ASME 2023 - Meet Advanced Design Technology Ltd. in Boston at Turbo Expo - June 26-30 (Stand 401)

Posted By: Ali Panchoo
Date:Wed, 31 May 2023, 3:19 p.m.

Advanced Design Technology to present at ASME’s International Gas Turbine Institute Turbo Expo 2023 Turbomachinery Technical Conference & Exposition LONDON (UK), CHICAGO (US), MUNICH (DE), KOBE (JP) & SHANGHAI (CN) – May 31, 2023 – Advanced Design Technology, Ltd. (ADT), a global leader in the development of advanced turbomachinery design methods and the TURBOdesign Suite, will exhibit in Booth 401 at the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Turbo Expo 2023 June 26-30 at the at Hynes Convention Center, Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

ADT will demonstrate the TURBOdesign Suite and its three-dimensional (3D) inverse design optimization capabilities for Multidisciplinary Optimization of a High-Speed Low Pressure Turbine Rotor and A Novel Optimisation of a Transonic Centrifugal Impeller. Design engineers and original equipment manufacturers can benefit by shortening development times and improving components efficiency using the TURBOdesign Suite and ADT’s engineering design services.

According to conference organizers, the ASME Turbomachinery Conference is recognized as the must attend event for turbomachinery professionals. The technical conference has a well-earned reputation for bringing together the best and brightest experts from around the world to share the latest in turbine technology, research and development, and application in the following topic areas: gas turbines, steam turbines, wind turbines, fans & blowers, solar brayton & rankine cycle and supercritical CO2. The exhibition attracts the industry's leading professionals and key decision makers, whose innovation and expertise are helping to shape the future of the turbomachinery industry.

At this year conference, ADT’s representatives will present two technical publications highlighting recent developments in turbomachinery design, analysis and optimization: • Multidisciplinary Optimization of a High-Speed Low Pressure Turbine Rotor Using 3D Inverse Design Method Date: Monday, June 26, 8:00 AM (EDT) Authors: Dr. Luying Zhang (Advanced Design Technology Ltd) and Prof. Mehrdad Zangeneh (University College London)

The design of high-speed low-pressure turbine (LPT) is challenging due to the mechanical constraints and the increased Mach number. A trade-off has to be made between the aerodynamic performance and structural integrity. This was previously done through iterations with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).

• A Novel Optimisation of a Transonic Centrifugal Impeller Based on 3D Inverse Design Approach Date: Tuesday, June 27, 8:00 AM (EDT) Authors: Peng Wang and Mingding Zhang (Advanced Design Technology Ltd) and Prof. Mehrdad Zangeneh (University College London)

The process of defining the shape of a centrifugal impeller's blade is crucial for optimizing its performance. It often requires multiple control parameters to accurately represent the blade profile with the desired level of detail and smoothness. ADT has been instrumental in assisting turbomachinery firms in designing more effective turbomachines resulting in a significant decrease in CO2 emissions over the past two decades, said Professor Mehrdad Zangeneh, Director at ADT. However, it is now evident that there is a pressing need for immediate action to further reduce and eliminate carbon emissions into the atmosphere if we want to prevent irreversible environmental harm.

Representatives from ADT will be on hand at our stand 401, to demonstrate the TURBOdesign Suite and show design engineers and turbomachinery manufacturers how to optimize preliminary designs as well as improve knowledge transfer between projects and design teams while significantly reducing design time and attaining higher performance and noise reduction.

We look forward to discussing all the challenges, opportunities and possible solutions with attendees this year. Visit ADT during the ASME Turbo Expo 2023, contact us at +44 (0)20 7299 1170 or go to the company website to arrange a demonstration of unique 3D design and analysis codes.

About TURBOdesign Suite: ADT’s TURBOdesign Suite is a unique aerodynamic and hydrodynamic 3D design software package that allows users to design, analyze and optimize all types of turbomachinery, such as axial, mixed-flow or centrifugal pumps, compressors, fans, turbines and torque converters. Using the software, designers evaluate turbomachinery package size and performance predictions; perform detailed 3D blade design with 3D inverse design capabilities; analyze flow information per component; stage performances with turbomachinery specific 3D computational fluid dynamics (CFD); and automate exploration of the design space with automatic optimization capabilities.

About Advanced Design Technology Ltd.: Advanced Design Technology (ADT) is a global leader in the development of advanced turbomachinery design methods, which help shorten development time and improve performance of turbomachinery components. Our aim is to put designers in direct control of the aerodynamic design and to considerably shorten the design time and time to market for a range of turbomachinery products. ADT’s clients, who represent some of the leading global players in the aerospace, automotive, power generation and marine fields, have achieved significant returns on investment in terms of reduction in design times, higher performance and ease of know-how transfer among different design teams and projects.
