Date:Wed, 11 Oct 2023, 4:48 a.m.

Dear Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to announce the first annual ASTFE nuclear thermal hydraulics competition sponsored by Framatome at our 9th Thermal and Fluids Engineering conference next April at Oregon State University. The overall plan is as follows: blind data will be collected from a forced/natural convection scenario at University of Michigan's multi-jet Gas-mixture Dome (MiGaDome) facility. I invite all CFD'ers to attempt to replicate those data. All teams' results will be presented and compared with the blind data during a session(s) at the conference. An award of 5,000 USD will be given to the team with results closest to the blind data. Please communicate with Wayne via email at least your preliminary interest in participating, and submit a placeholder abstract via the conference portal. When submitting your abstract on the ASTFE submission site, please make sure to choose “CFD Competition” as your abstract subject area.

Thank you for your consideration,

Wayne Strasser, PE, PhD Libery University F.L.U.I.D.: https://fluidgroup.org/
