SimScale Launches Electromagnetics Simulation

SimScale’s electromagnetics simulation allows engineers to assess and validate the electromagnetic performance and design of electronic devices and systems directly in a web browser. Engineers can now set up and run multiple electromagnetics and multiphysics simulations in parallel with no hardware limitations and analyze the results in seconds. The EM simulations are powered by the almost unlimited computing power of the cloud and augmented with industry-leading team collaboration features.

As today’s devices become more complex, the need for integrated mechanics, heat transfer, and electromagnetics-based design has become even more critical. With SimScale, engineers can run multiphysics simulations (EM, FEA, CFD, and thermal analysis) on the same platform with a single CAD model.

The EM solver in SimScale, powered by EMWorks, offers more than just visualizing magnetic fields; it enables deep exploration, for example, of how electric coils couple magnetically or what resulting forces influence motors, relays, and actuators, hence predicting breakdown voltages and observing charge build-up under intense electrical fields. Additionally, the time-harmonic magnetics solver optimizes designs by precisely addressing factors like eddy currents and proximity effects, which are essential in applications such as transformers and induction heating. More features are being added continuously, including electrostatics, thermal coupling, and transient magnetics
