Combining TwinMesh and ANSYS CFX offers engineers a unique, efficient, and fast workflow for transient, three-dimensional computational fluid and thermal analyses of gerotor pumps, lobe pumps, gear pumps and screw compressors at maximum reliability. Our novel software automatically generates high quality structured meshes of the rotating parts of positive displacement (pd) machines.
TwinMesh imports rotor profiles via IGES-curves or point coordinates from your CAD system or your initial design software. Hence, structured meshes for a user defined number of rotor positions and a user defined mesh quality are generated by the software and then exported in an ANSYS-compatible format. The export data of TwinMesh contains all required meshes for a transient flow simulation and also a ready-to-run simulation template, which enables an immediate start of a flow analysis e.g. with ANSYS CFX.
TwinMesh 2015 is the latest release of CFX Berlins’ in-house developed outstanding meshing software for rotary pd machines. The new version enables users to have an even more effective workflow. We enhanced functionality and broadened its usage for further machine types.
The workflow to generate meshes is faster now and allows for more mesh control options at the same time. Furthermore, options to visually check the mesh quality are now available. Improvements were also made in order to generate interfaces between the rotor meshes. Mesh smoothing algorithms were improved so that there is an overall speed-up in the whole mesh generation process.
Using TwinMesh and ANSYS CFD engineers can: - analyse the flow behaviour inside the working chambers of lobe pumps, screw compressors, gear pumps and gerotor pumps, - analyse complex phenomena such as compressible flow behaviour, cavitation, viscous heating, acoustics and pulsation behaviour, and - check the machine performance (mass flow, efficiency, pressure ratio, torques, etc.) with no need of physical prototyping.
Offering a unique and efficient workflow and eliminating traditional numerical limits TwinMesh drives real innovation in the field of pd machines helping engineers to realize a faster time-to-market, higher machine quality, and decreasing development costs.
Fluid dynamic and thermal analysis for positive displacement machines has never been more intuitive and accurate thanks to CFX Berlins’ unique TwinMesh and the ANSYS simulation environment.
