This is a two-day hands-on course in Melbourne where
participants will learn to customise top
level solvers in OpenFOAM. In addition, introduction to C++
programming language, creation of the new turbulence model as
a part of the existing OpenFOAM library with curvature
correction.
Description:
Dr Darrin Stephens will deliver this two-day course.
Participants in the course will learn the layout of the
OpenFOAM library, how to copy and
compile a solver. In addition, introduction to C++
programming language, creation of the new turbulence model as
a part of the existing
OpenFOAM library with curvature correction. Lastly, the
ability to read the OpenFOAM library without fear.
The methodology employed consists of a series of lectures
that provide a general understanding of OpenFOAM topics
followed by hands-on work.
This training focuses on the OpenFOAM Foundation version
2.2.x of OpenFOAM.
Participants will be able to customise top level solvers in
OpenFOAM after this training course.
Day 1
Introduction,
C++ introduction,
OpenFOAM library layout,
Compilation of OpenFOAM solvers and utilities,
Hand-on examples,
Day 2
C++ classes and inheritance.
Creating a new turbulence model, programming, compiling and
running,
Boundary condition code walk through,
Hand-on examples,
A hard copy of the training notes will be provided together
with a USB stick with a working copy of OpenFOAM and workshop
files from the course.
For hands-on examples, attendees are required to bring their
own laptop (PC).
It is expected that the attendees have completed the OpenFOAM
Introductory course or have some experience using OpenFOAM.
