Hello,
I am wondering if someone can help me with the blocking of the attached geometry. I have merged the vertices at the top of the convergent section, so i ended up with 4 wedge blocks (in the middle) and 4 pyramidal blocks (in the corners) in that section (see the attached picture) I can convert the wedge blocks to Y-blocks but how can I deal with the 4 pyramid blocks? any suggestion is very appreciated Thanks Andrea |

Hi Andrea,
I think your approach is wrong. What you have to do in order to get a good mesh on that goemetry is just split your initial block by the points of your goemetry at different heights, it is, two splits. Then, create an O-grid topology selecting the top and bottom faces of your model |

FJSJ,
many thanks for your reply. The ogrid was my first, and I would say, the most "natural" approach. What I was triying to avoid with the blocking strategy in my first post is to have two parallel edges (i.e. the edges of the small duct and the edges of the large duct) with different length and that are bound to have the same number of nodes. Do you think it is possible to accomplish this with a structured full hexa mesh? Andrea |

I am not sure about what you really want to get...

Please have a look at the pictures of my blocking and your blocking that i am attaching.
What I would like to achieve is to have the same mesh size on the small section and the large section of the convergent duct without having the poor quality elements at the tip of the pyramidal blocks present in my blocking. Do you think it is possible within a structured hexa mesh approach or I will have to use a different type of mesh (e.g. hybrid tetra/hexa)? Cheers Andrea |

OK. I think I understood what you are trying to achieve now. However, I think that is not possible because the nature of hexahedral mesh.
