Dear friends,

I am trying to create boundary layer structured mesh in ICEM. I would like to define specific number of boundary layers.

What I understood is that in Pre-Mesh Params > Meshing Parameters, Spacings just determine the height of the first/last cell and using Ratio the height of the adjucent cells of them are determined. But in this part we are not able to define the number of boundary layers.

Am I able to use Surface Mesh Setup in Mesh tab for creating B.L. structured mesh in a volume? If yes, which one is useful? Height or Tetra Width?

Thank you for your time!
Regards

The number of layers (along with specific first layer thickness and growth ratio) is specified for each region in the Part Mesh setup window (Icon should be next to Global Mesh Setup - not sure with the naming here). It looks like a table and allows you to specify for each region individually said parameters which override the global setup if specified.

Not sure on your second answer, I think it is possible but after the layer insertion you can only fill the rest of the volume with tetra. I vagely remember seeing a tutorial on that a while ago.

/EDIT: Are you really talking about structured mesh? Then you can adjust the spacing near the wall in your blocking to get the boundary layers?!

Hi dear friend,

I have a 2D airfoil for which I have created a structured mesh. Now I want to put some boundary layers on the surface of the airfoil. How can I do this ?
