tetrahedral or hexahedral mesh?

Hi All,
I am about to set an aeronautical simulation, but I am not sure if I should use tetrahedral or hexahedral mesh, I was checking on internet but I found that both of them are used, so I don't have a good reason to choose one of them. Thank you for your answers. |

This is a good question. It took me a while to understand the issues when I began using commercial codes. Hex meshes both mesh and solve faster. Tets are easier to apply to complex geometries and also do not tend to have issues with inflation.

Thank you Jade, I think I will choose Tet because it is a complicated geometry

hello.....
well i think u should go for hybrid mesh. go for tet mesh in the viscinity of the geometry and hex mesh away from ur geometry. that will give you good result with less memory uses.....for hybrid mesh you have to divide ur volume in several different volumes.....good luck.... |

Using a hybrid mesh is a fantastic idea. I did not suggest this approach since it sounded like you are new to meshing. I think that tet is a great first try and then you can make further refinements as you understand the mesh controls. Good luck!
