Dear All,

I am trying to simulate a scraped plate surface heat exchanger. The heat exchanger consists of three domains.

1. Fluid domain that represents the body (shell) of the heat exchanger.
2. Solid domain that represents the plates. (inside the fluid domain)
3. Immersed domain that represents the rotating scraping blades mounted on a shaft ( used to scrape the plates). (inside the fluid domain)

I used Ansys CFX to simulate the rotating motion simply by assuming an immersed solid and rotating motion and it worked fine. However, I want to use fluent to be able to model solidification/melting in my problem. But when I assume a solid domain for the scraping blades and enable the rotating motion. The simulation seems not to work!

I watch a couple of videos on youtube for rotating parts (wind turbine) simulated using fluent, it seems that I have to endorse a shape around the rotating part and use subtract boolean. But that seems not logical to me or in my case!

Please help me if you know how to simulate a rotating part using fluent in a similar way to CFX ( I am not so good at fluent).

Many thanks,
