Dear all,

I need to simulate blood flow in 50 artery models.

I would like to know if there is any method to automate the whole simulation process from meshing to setup in CFX. In other words, automated ANSYS file reads the geometry, mesh it using specified settings, then ask the user for inlet and outlet boundary condition and finally start the simulation process.

Thanks

Yes. You can do it in the workbench environment or you can do it using command line tools and script/session files.

Thanks Glenn.
Do you know where I can find a tutorial for either of the methods you mentioned. I have no clue where I should start from

Here's how I would do it:

If you use ICEM you can script the meshing using replay files (not sure how to do it using workbench mesher)
CFX pre can be scripted using session files
CFX solve can be run from a script, and here you can append a .ccl file with your desired values for boundary conditions.
CFD-post can be scripted using state/session files

...and then a script for you scripts.

Make a simplified model where you test your scripts to make sure that everything runs as expected.

Thanks Lance.
Let me give you an example of what I am after:

Let's assume that I have three patient-specific artery models named as Patient1.igs, Patient2.igs and Patient3.igs.

I want to mesh the patient1.igs first and then create a script file that meshes the patient 2.igs and patient3.igs automatically and with the same meshing topology. Is this doable with ICEM CFD script?

Are you aware of any other methods that can do this.

If you need the same mesh topology for all your geometries you would have to use ICEM Hexa and reuse the blocking on each model. That will not be easy to automate as there needs be user interaction in order to get the blocks to fit to each geometry.

If you are ok tetra mesh then it would be a bit easier, just make sure that you record all your steps (file/replay scripts/replay control).
