Hello
What? I would like to simulate the influence of a non-centric rotor-Position on a leaf-seal. My plan was to start with a small segment with periodic bc. After doing sensitivity studies etc. i would like to interpolate the results on the full 360°-model as initial condition. For this purpose i can interpolate onto a model with centric rotor first and move the rotor later. Why? The segment-simulation already takes relatively long to converge. Since the geometry is axialsymmetric i don't expect major periodic phenomena thus the rotational interpolation should be a very good initial condition. How? Is there any way of doing this? It should be a common idea to interpolate a periodic segment on a full model, but i couldn't find any solution. I use ICEM for meshing and CFX for the solver, pre- and postprocessing. Thanks for reading this |

It is implemented in CFX. In Pre, go to Execution Control -> Initial Values. Add an Initial Values Item with your segment result. Then, add a Interpolation Mapping Item and tick replication control. Here you can give the rotation axis and set up your interpolation.
In my case there is a turbine rotor with 1 blade per passage. There are 65 blade in total. I want 4 of those together, so I used the numbers like: Pass. in Component: 1; Passages in 360: 65; Total Num. Instances: 4; Theta Offset: 0. I hope this helps. |
