Hello.
What i want to solve is to see the temperature change over time near the dry cask outer as there is a heat source in the dry cask. And i want to check that the heat transfer effect is excellent depending on the existence and nonexistence. There is heat source in the dry cask and the cask is in the air. So, I try to solve this problem using "Transient method" in CFX. But I have two questions about Transient method. First, If i set the constant value at the heat source, is the results same between "steady state method" and "Transient method"? Second, I want to see the temperature change depend on time at the fin, is it correct to set heat source as the time dependent. |

I assume you are not modeling the outer side of the model, i.e. just the solid subject to convective boundary conditions.
Such a model with constant properties is a linear problem; therefore, its steady state solution should be the same as the solution obtained using the transient approach once you wait long enough for it to reach steady state. Keep in mind those are two different goals: 1 - steady-state will tell you how well the fins work under steady operation 2 - transient will tell you how fast the fins will reach their steady-state condition, so you can better estimate the maximum temperature the system may reach before it reaches steady state Hope the above helps,
