Hello everyone,
I want to run a transient simulation via the command line. In doing so, I need to initialize the solution using a transient file, namely, initial.trn. I realized this is done by adding an option to the command cfx5solve. However, I am not sure which of the following three options to use -initial initial.trn -initial-file initial.trn -continue-from-file initial.trn Note: no interpolation is needed (meshes are identical). I understand that this has been explained in the documentation, but I am still unclear. I appreciate your help very much. |

All I can do is to repeat the documentation, but that seems a bit pointless.
If you ask a question explaining what you do not understand from the documentation then we can try to answer it.

You cannot initialize from a .trn-file.
You can only initialize from a complete results file. Or a backup file, if you ave any (*.bak) |

You can initialise from a trn file if you include the mesh in it. This is not the default option, however. You need to select this option from the transient results file tab in CFX-Pre.

if you do not want to read the documentation, you at least must use the available help from the command you are using
cfx5solve -help will list ALL the available options. If you think reading through is easier than the documentation, you will find out what you need from there. As pointed out, you can only initialize from "a full" Ansys CFX file. What are those files? Usually, they include _full.trn, _full.bak or .res in their names. Renaming them is not going to help unless the required data is already stored in them. Those 3 files contain the mesh, and a sort of solution fields depending on what options you set for them in CFX-Pre. Data that is not provided by those files will be assumed and computed by the software using whatever is already available.
