The initial conditions for the pressure field and volume fractionmust be consistent (i.e., the pressure field is hydrostatic in the heavy phase and uniform in light phase). This is easily done using CEL step functions. For example, the functions:
h = 2[m] initialVOFAir = stepz â€" h⁄ï€ 1[m] initialVOFWater = 1 â€" initialVOFAir initialP = 998[kg m^-3]*g*hâ€"z*initialVOFWater would be appropriate to initialize the relative pressure field and volume fractions as shown below. In the equation for initialVOFAir, the division is required since the step function must operate on dimensionless quantities. i hope it helps. I got this from the pdf manual topic MODELING ADVICE FREE SURFACE FLOW page 200 see the diagram at this page and let me know what you understand coz i am trying to digest this as well. mab |

Step(x) is 0 for negative x ,
is 1 for positive x , and 0.5 for x=0 . where x must be dimensionless. |
