2D Drag Coefficient

So I'm having problem trying to figure out what to do with the area term in the drag coefficient formula.
Since it's in 2D, you usually replace the area term with just the diameter (in this case for a cylinder). But now with CFX, since you can't really do a 2D simulation, do you just take the diameter, or do you need to take into consideration the thickness of that one element? |
