This video shows a simulation of a bevel gear reducer gearbox. Volume of fluid (VOF) and Reynolds-Averaged Navier Stokes (RANS) modeling were used to simulate the turbulent churning of the lubricant inside the gearbox. The first view shows how the lubricant splashes and spreads, coating the surfaces as the gears turn. The second view shows a slice with the mesh overlain.
