Hello,
I am trying to study the spray wall interactions. There is a way to flag the parcels in following categories: parcels in the wall film, rebounded parcels, splashed parcels, seperated parcels, and stripped
parcels. What are the stripped parcels and seperated parcels?

Hi Nitisha,

Separated parcels are created when a wall film flows over a sharp corner, and based on separation criteria the wall film parcels can get converted to spray parcels.

Stripped parcels are the spray parcels formed because of growth of waves on the surface of the film because of the aerodynamic forces, once a critical amplitude is achieved, wall film parcels are converted to spray parcels.

For additional details, you can download the theory manual from the download page: https://convergecfd.com/downloads

There is a variable called film_flag which tells the kind of parcel, you can output it in post file by going through Output / Post Processing -> Post variable selection -> Parcels -> Physical -> Film Flag in Converge Studio. Or add film_flag under <parcels> in the post.in file.

film_flag 0=spray, 1=film, 2=rebound,3=splash =4 separation 5=stripping

Hi

what are the models behind stripped and separated parcels in Converge? Somehow I cannot find any information about it in the manual. Does anyone know more about it?

Thank you very much!

Hey Crisu,

The models for film separation and stripping are discussed in CONVERGE theory manual. Open CONVERGE Studio, on the top left, go to Help > CONVERGE Manual (pdf). The models are mentioned in the Discrete Phase Modeling chapter under Parcel-Wall Interaction (Drop/Wall) > Wall Film model.

Thank You,
