Hi forum,

Is it possible to have a spatially varying temperature gradient (stratified) at an inlet boundary? I am aware that it is possible to initialise fluid with a user-defined function that will vary temperature with depth in the Initial subtab, however when there is inflow from eg. a velocity boundary, there doesn't seem to be an option to introduce fluid to the domain using the same depth varying function.

Is this possible? I am trying to simulate ocean mixing, I have also attached an image showing what I would like to avoid

Hello.

This can be done with customization. there should be an example at documentation which explain how to customize bc routine to empose temperature distribution to boundaries.

The most important source of saving fuel and energy resources spent on heat supply of large industrial buildings with significant consumption of heat and electric energy is the increase in the efficiency of the heating and ventilation system based on the use of modern achievements in computer and control technology. Usually, local automation tools are used to control heating and ventilation systems. The main disadvantage of such regulation is that it does not take into account the actual air and heat balance of the building and real weather conditions: temperature and humidity of the outside air, wind speed and direction, atmospheric pressure, solar radiation. Therefore, under the influence of local automation, the heat supply system usually does not work in the optimal mode.
