How to create and compile UDF?

i had ansys fluent code 14 windows 7 32 bit
how and where i can write a udf step by step?
i read interpret and compile chapters in ansys help but i still feeling confused.
do i need a vs program or there is another way?

You don't need a specific program to write your UDF. You can simply write your own code using any text editors, for instance notepad in windows. Remember to save the file with .c extension (e.g. myudf.c), since after all UDFs are c codes.
Also, have a look at Chapter 3 of the UDF manual for a step-by-step example.
