individual drag in vehicle platooning in fluent.

Hello everyone,

Please suggest the way to find drag for individual vehicle in the platoons i.e. the trailing vehicle and leading vehicle. the model is in the same file with some inter vehicular distance.

Hi,

you can calculate the drag of the vehicles by using Reports > Forces and then plot the desired force (i.e. in x direction) for the wall zone of your vehicle.

My guess is that all your vehicles are in one single wall group and you want the drag forces for the individual vehicles, am I right?
If so, then go to Surface > Iso-Clip:
- Clip to Values of: Mesh > x-Coordinate (i.e., should be the axial direction)
- Enter the values, so that your desired vehicle is included in the region
- Clip Surface: choose your vehicle wall zone

This way you can divide your wall zone into the single vehicle wall zones. Then continue with printing the forces acting on the new surfaces.
