salihovic is on a distinguished road
Dear all,

I am modeling a three dimensional geometry with convective heat transfer.
Flow over a cylinderwhich is at constant temperature.

I wonder what does volume weighted average heat tranfser coeff. mean?

or should I use area-weighted average of heat transfer coeff. over the cylinder?

heat transfer coefficient is a surface phenomenon. It really should be some type of surface average.

You shouldn't even be able to calculate a volume average heat transfer coefficient because it's defined only on surfaces. Integrating over a volume of an un-defined quantity is meaningless if not impossible.
