Hi everyone,

I am setting up an LES simulation to run it on cluster. Is it possible to setup the whole problem using GUI first, and save the settings to a file so that I only need to read the mesh and this setup file and start the simulation on the cluster? I noticed there's a file with the extension "-Setup-Output.cas" and ".set" and I thought maybe it's my setup file. am I right? can I just write a few line in my journal file to read this file and also the mesh and start the simulation?

Many thanks in advance.

It's much simpler.

The .cas and the .dat file already contains everything you need. The .cas contains the mesh and settings. The .dat contains the solution.

Setup everything and write the .cas. You can even initialize it and then save it with the .dat.

On the cluster you read the .cas and .dat and run.

Thanks, I also have a similar question. Is it necessary to write the output after several iterations using "wd", or it will automatically write the solution according to the write interval specified in the .cas file?

I want to write a journal file to run in the university supercomputer.I have a few problems with this.
how can i monitor the solution in a journal file ?
i use udf in my simulation , should i define udf in journal file ?
this is my journal
-------------------------------------------
;fluent simulation input file
;read case file
rc/home/arazpoor/porous/porous.cas
;initialize the solution
solve initialize initialize-flow
;calculation the iteration
solve/set/time-step 300
solve/dual-time-iterate 288 200
;write data file
wd/home/arazpoor/porous.dat
;exit fluent
exit
;confirm exit to prompt
yes
