how to choose carbon as a solid in fluent

I am working on smoldering combustion, In figure, gray area represents char and other section is passage for gas, can I represent char by solid carbon. how to add carbon as a solid material in fluent. (solid carbon comes under fluid materials in fluent) oxidation reactions are also to be modeled at char surface,
Can some one help? |

species transport model and energy model.
it is oxidation reaction, the phenomenon is flame-less combustion |
