hi guys , i have an intel core i7 6700k which is 4.2 ghz at stock with 4 cores,i am about to oveclock it to 4.5ghz. i am going to do some simulation on fluent which might take 1 week for each run. since i boost up the speed the voltage will go up and it will generate more heat.i was wondering if it worth over-clocking??
tnx |

Personally I wouldn't overclock.
It's difficult to know whether your simulation is limited by CPU speed or RAM bandwidth. The only meaningful way to know is to do it and try. Of course you also pray you don't have any stability issues. My guess is you can get 10%-20% speedup which is probably not even worth the human effort tinkering with it. |

33GB RAM on 4 cores, I think you are probably limited by ram speed.
