Good day, all!
I am busy with NACA0012 airfoil analysis (2D) in fluent. I have done optimization analysis by comparing my CFD results with other experimental data. For my research project, I have to use 'Power balance method' which is introduced by Drela(2009). This is another method to calculate drag and lift. (please see the following link: http://web.mit.edu/drela/Public/pape...762_slides.pdf) In his paper, he used Control volume (Trefftz and Side cylinder plane) to use the conservation of energy equation instead of using conservation of momentum. (see following image for better understanding: https://ibb.co/yNdyb3r) I like to know 1) how to implant this control volume(Trefftz and side cylinder planes) in my existing domain model and 2) how to implant this power balance method equation into my Fluent. Please help me, Kind regards, |

Is having outlet boundary as the Trefftz plane and farfield boundary as the cylinder not solving your problem. Energy balance between inlet to outlet should give drag. Lift is difficult as boundary conditions would have no impact if far stream. Probably, estimating circulation from boundaries might help.
