How does cfd package like fluent calculate parasite drag and induced drag?

Hello everyone,

I am a newcomer to CFD and have encountered some questions regarding the calculation of induced drag and parasitic drag while using Fluent for simulations. I am wondering if Fluent allows direct output of induced drag and parasitic drag, but it seems that this feature is not available.

I have learned that Fluent can export the lift coefficient CL and the drag coefficient CD. I am curious if we can calculate the induced drag coefficient CDi using the equation : CDi = CL² / (π * e * AR)(Where CL is the lift coefficient, e is the span efficiency factor and AR is the wing aspect ratio), and then use the equation : CD = CD0 + CDi to obtain the parasitic drag coefficient CD0?

No need for complicated empirical formula.

Fluent does output induced and parasitic drag. Induced drag is nothing but the projection of the lift force.
