Please advise how to export lines and surfaces from AutoCad to Gambit. It seems that AUTOCAD can only export solid (volume) in ACIS format. Thanks

Gambit can still see vertices and edges created in AutoCad and saved as an ACIS (*.sat) file provided they were there originally. You may have to fool around in Gambit to delete volumes, surfaces, etc.
Alternatively, you could convert the AutoCad file (is it *.dxf?) to an IGES file. You will have to find a translator, such as can be found in the professional version of some of the low end CAD packages - Generic CAD? VersiCAD?. You can find some stand-alone conversion programs on the Web to go from CAD to IGES format. I have tried a few with limited success. |
