hi fluent users i have question about y plus i know the range of y plus to use different wall treatments but my question is how can i check my y plus and how can i keep it in my required range. thanks in advance Anjum

you can go for a XY plot and plot the y+ for a particlular surface.
for maintaining y+, go for grid adaptation |

for checking y plus, go to xy plots, slect turbulence in the list , and in the sublist, select y + , select the domain i-e wall. and then plot it.

Better way - do a contour plot of y+ on your surfaces. You can clip it to the ranges of 1-30 and 30-300. Typically, most turbulence models will not be accurate in the 1-30 range (unless you use something like the K-Eps with enhanched wall functions).
Using the contour plots is a nice way, I typically set it to 1-30, which means that red regions indicated good y+ values (I manually check for y+ max < 300), and any green-blue regions means that the y+ values need to be looked at. |
