Boundary Condition in Gambit

HI, I am trying to simulate a wind turbine in a tunnel 2D. I have done that good so far. the turbine had some blades . i need to measure the forces developed around those blades. But as boundary conditon i declared the blade surface as interior in GAMBIT but when i import then in fluent it shows error and convert those bundary surface as wall and my program does not converge. i have tried the same geomerty without declaring the boudary conditon of blades then it converged. i have also tried by reducing under-relaxation factor but no improvement.
So my question is what will be the boudnary conditon of the blade surface. i need to declare both surface in order to get the values. thanks in advance Kirit |

you should use wall boundary conditions to define the blade surfaces

Dear Davy, thanks for you mail. i have tried declaring blade surface as wall bounday but the program does not converge as i am giving the convergence criteria for continuity 0.001.
then what will be the solution. Can i expect some good results the programme which is not converged ?? kirit |

That is actually weird because you mentioned that if you did not declare anything it converges. When you don't declare anything, that means GAMBIT will automatically choose any undeclared boundaries as walls by default. So either you specify it to become a wall boundary or GAMBIT does it by default, the blade surface will still be seen as a wall in FLUENT.
Your case not converging means there are other problems associated with it...you need to troubleshoot your case for other possible errors. Btw, when the programme doesn't converge, you can't expect good results. Hope that helps. |
