I need to use ANSYS to model an aircraft wing for my master's project, and my computer is not particularly powerful, these are some of its features:

*Processor: Intel Core i3 3220

*Mainboard: Intel DH61CR

*RAM: 16 GB DDR3 (DRAM Frequency: 1600 MHz)

*Storage: 1) Kingston SSD, 240 GB, and 2) A Hardrive just for storage, 500 GB (130 free GB)

*Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT DDR2 (Bus Width: 128 bits)

I'm actually satisfied with RAM and storage (I've just upgraded them from 4 GB to 16 GB for the RAM, and added the kingston SSD To the storage, where windows is now installed), it's pretty much the best I can do with my current Processor and Mainboard, and I don't have the budget to upgrade either of them right now, but I'm seriously considering upgrading my graphic card.

Where I live, it's very hard to acquire a graphic card, there aren't many options for my PC case, it most certainly has to be a low profile graphic card. Some of the options (that I know about) that are available and that I can afford are:

NVIDIA QUADRO K600, DDR3, 1GB

NVIDIA GT 710, DDR3, 2 GB

I think the NVIDIA Quadro K600 is recommended for design, and the NVIDIA GT 710 is just for watching movies in HD, is it true? It's important that I mention that de 710 GT costs twice as much as the QUADRO K600 (At least where I'm able to find them)

What are your thoughts? Are there any low-medium budget Graphic cards that are better for ANSYS than these that I mentioned above? Do you have any recommendation besides the Graphic card? Something I should be paying attention to? Anything might be helpful to me

Thanks for reading and for your time!

Just to avoid a nasty surprise later: none of these graphics cards will increase the speed of your simulations. The only reason to upgrade would be if interacting with the models or the GUI in general is unbearably slow.

That's what Nvidias marketing team has been drilling into people. But it's not necessarily true. Quadro cards (more specifically: their drivers, because the GPUs are mostly identical) have a few advantages in a professional setup with some software. But that's nothing to worry about when shopping for a low-end card for personal use. Get the fastest card you can afford, ideally with 2GB of VRAM or more, and disregard the "Quadro" and "Geforce" labels. But once more, only upgrade your graphics card if you really have to, see initial paragraph.

Btw: which country are you from?
