Hello,
I have ordered and received a workstation (titan computers): Titan A475 dual AMD EPYC, 2 x AMD EPYC Milan 7413. Based on experience and recommendations, I had asked for 16x16GB RAM configuration so that all DIMMS are populated, and with the exact same ram. I am planning on running StarCCM+ multiphase free surface flow, of approx 30-40M cells, if that matters. Titans decided to go ahead and populate the RAM in a 8x32GB manner, leaving 8 empty slots, instead of going 16x16GB as I requested. What is the general feeling on this? Is the workstation going to perform roughly similarly, or am I going to increase my computation time? I don't like having empty slots, especially because I am certain I will never need more than 256GB RAM so there is no need for me to go 8x32GB... Thanks for the feedback! |
