Anyone have experience or feedback about this machine?
the set-up would consider: - AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5965WX, 128MB - 64GB RAM, 8 x 8GB, DDR4, 3200MHz, ECC from what I can understand in this thread the CPU should be capable of decent performance, and the 8 DIMMs should be optimal? the company I work for is looking to buy a workstation for CFD, so unfortunately I am not able to buy used parts or even full custom builds any recommendation? should I aim for 128GB RAM? Thank you in advance!!! |

Ordering 8 DIMMs is indeed crucial for this type of processor.
How much memory you need depends on the size of your simulations. Though for a professional workstation in this price class, I would not go with anything lower than 128GB, regardless of what I estimated the actual requirement to be. In relation to the total price tag, the increase from memory can't be that big. |
