Hello,
I'm looking to build a CFD computer in the next month with a 7443p, using the supermicro h12 ssl-i. I'm looking at a dark base 700 bequiet! case, and have no idea which CPU cooler would be sufficient for something like this (is this case also suitable?). I'm kinda clueless on cooling requirements for epyc cpus, I see there's a brand called dynatron, how would this compare to a regular AIO cooler like the coolermaster ml360? I'm struggling to find which cpu's various coolers can support in terms of TDP, if that's even the right way to go about it . Thankyou! |

These CPUs are not hard to cool, despite relatively high TDP/power. The surface area where heat is released is much higher than in desktop CPUs with similar power consumption.
Dynatron makes coolers for servers. They are designed for minimum space requirements, and thus use very loud fans. That's not what you want in a workstation. There are quite a few air coolers you can choose from for a workstation. To name a few: Noctua NH-U14S TR4-SP3 BeQuiet Dark rock Pro TR4 Arctic Freezer 50 TR Closed loop liquid coolers also work, just be sure to pick one that can be mounted on the SP3 socket. Cooler manufacturers usually denote this with "TR4". There is more nuance here: some CLCs have cold plates specifically designed for these larger CPUs, which is better. Others just come with different mounting mechanisms, and technically do not cover the whole area where heat is produced. The case is fine, but definitely add 2 more case fans if you go with air cooling for the CPU. |

Now, I have my opinion about RGB, but that's besides the point
Maybe consider how god-awful that will look in contrast to the green motherboard PCB. |

I don't think there are any compatible boards for this CPU with non-green PCBs. Edit: oh right, Asus offers two boards with weird form factors and a black PCB. They won't fit into your case without some modifications.
You would have to look into Threadripper Pro for that. But that's a hefty price premium just for the looks. Or the new competitor from Intel, Xeon W-3400 series. Not cheap either. |
