Hello everyone! I need some specific APC propellers geometry to conduct a CFD investigation of those. I bought the propellers, but due to the pandemic I am not able to scan it. Nevertheless, if someone has a repository of those geometries or knows a person that I could hire to draw it for me I would thank a lot.

Best regards,

Hello Mateus,

GrabCad is a good repository for STL files. You didn't mention which model you were looking for, but here is one I found:

https://grabcad.com/library/10x4-dot-7-propeller

Here is the link to some geometry data:

http://www.ae.illinois.edu/m-selig/props/propDB.html

You can import point data into ICEM with Insert -> Formatted data. Connect the dots with lines and go from there.

Thanks!

If it helps someone with the same doubt: I was able to use UIUC database to build some APC propeller using Clark Y airfoil and drawing with opescad and blender scripts. There is a lot of information about those propeller in the published papers. Many authors have scanned the propellers and they made the geometries parameters available.

Grabcad is great but one must be very carefully about the airfoil sections resolution. In my case it is even more critical as my interest is in the propeller noise.

Best regards,

Mateus

Other nice place is the NASA's reports. There is many propeller geometries distribution published and tested by them.Using openscad one is able to create the STL geometry also.

Hello Mateus,

Thank you for sharing!

I was not sure what you wished to do with the simulation. I agree that noise measurement would require a more refined geometry! I also realised after reading your response the first time that not everyone may have access to ICEM or the ANSYS package, so I will be sure to mention openscad to individuals who may be looking to do something similar to yourself.

That said, were you able to get a geometry of the propellor?
