Turbulent viscosity limited

i know this is very late concerning this thread .... but i just came across it right now. My questions are regarding zxaar's post http://www.cfd-online.com/Forum/flue...9389#Responses
He mentions obtaining a solution with a coarse mesh. Could you tell me roughly the mesh size for this coarse mesh assuming that the fine mesh is 3 mil. so that the results are relevant? Secondly, what if the original geometry has a lot of small features to be captured? In that case the problem with a coarse mesh is that we get a lot of skewed elements in that region. So is it alright to use such a mesh with highly skewed elements to get an initial guess and force convergence so that the turbulent viscosity warning goes away. Alternatively if it is not correct to use such a mesh ( which i presume would be the right approach) what approach would one follow to get a coarse mesh?
thanx in advance, ashevade
