Is it possible to set bounded or unbounded central difference?

Have you performed some test?
Simple tests are done but i think a more serious test needs to be done.

I take it up and also need to add the inflow turbulence generator.

I probably get some time in first week of june. Do you have any preference for the test case. I see if I could do that.

At the moment unbounded or unlimited versions are not available, but I think your idea has merit and user shall be able to set the "unboundedness" . That means that user shall be able to set limiter-min and limiter max that solver shall respect.

And by adjusting these to 1,1 one shall be able to get unbounded versions of these schemes.

I will keep this as a feature for future releases.

It isn't this simple in FVUS though because solver has automatic cell quality remediation built in and that likey to hinder this limiting when cell quality drops. So may be with assumption that user created mesh where all the cells are above certain cell quaility this can be provided.
(Also if cell quality is bad then unbounded may be unstable anyway).

I suggest to do the test for the planar channel flow at a certain Re_tau value. It would be useful to check the code in DNS conditions before doing LES.
If you are interested, you can try to use the same grid parameters we used in this study where several CFD codes were tested:

This is extremely useful in many ways. I thank you for this.

I see that you are one of the authors, so if you have mesh lying around then it would be even better as apples to apples comparison could be made.

Also gives me opportunity to test/improve the code and also is helpful for user as he can then have some trust in FVUS (being pretty new code).

We used a structured constant 64x64 grid in the homogeneous plane and two different stretched grids along the normal-to-wall direction. Details are in the paper so that you can use exactly the same resolution. You see that we computed also the no-modelled LES.

Thank you I try to follow it.

By a quick glance saw an interesting comment about Fluent's bounded scheme that it had dissipation. Will see how FVUS does. Thank you again.

FVUS Release 1.2 Beta is available from today to be downloaded from www.dravvya.co.in

Additions

Reactive Flow
  • ReactingSpeciesModel and FractionalFlowModel
Work together to provide finite rate combustion framework.
Turbulence
  • Standard K-Epsilon Turbulence Model
  • Dynamic Smagorinsky Subgrid
  • Bounded Central Differencing for Flow.

Firekatze
Firekatze is a separate product aimed at chemical reaction dynamics.
Current version of Firekatze translates CHEMKIN input files to FVUS format so that they can be further used for setting up simulations for Reacting flows.
Second task that Firekatze performs is of bundling species of similar transport properties into groups. This significantly reduces diffusion coefficient calculation times during simulation.


Note:
It is termed beta release as Reacting Flow model goes into further validations and tests. It is likely to add further options as users try to test and request additional features into it.
Also for this release Windows version is not available.
