Hello everyone!
I am interested in DNS study of turbulence and combustion. I am confused about the turbulence spectrum of Passot-Pouquet(1987) used in DNS study (Yoo). https://www.sciencedirect.com/scienc...1021801100040X.
In DNS study, the initial turbulent velocity is generated according to the spectrum present by Passot-Pouquet(1987)https://scholar.google.ca/scholar?q=...=1&oi=scholart, which looks like E(k)=A(k/k0)^4exp(-(k/k0)^2). This equation is different from the Kolmogorov’s −5/3 law. And they are look very different in same picture attached copy from a thesis. https://www.researchgate.net/publica...medium=organic.
My question is that why not use the spectrum of well known Kolmogorov’s −5/3 law in DNS study instead of use the spectrum proposed by Passot-Pouquet?
Any help would be appreciate.
