Mesh generation error for 2D geom

Hi,

I am trying to mesh a 2D geometry which is the midplane cut of a battery pack. It is essentially just a rectangle that contains smaller rectangles (see attached image for schematic). The smaller rectangles represent battery cells, so there will be a no-slip BC applied at these rectangles and the flow goes around them (from left to right).

I created this geometry in solidworks and then imported it as a step file to design modeler, but when I try to mesh it I get this error:

PlugIn Error: No valid bodies found for 2D Analysis in the following parts:
Solid.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!!

Firstly, I assume you used an Analysis System in Ansys Workbench and set the Advanced Geometry Options/Analysis Type = 2D.

Can you show an image of the DesignModeler tree with the 2D body. DesignModeler is a legacy product, it is now recommended to use SpaceClaim for Ansys geometry tasks. If the geometry is as simple as a rectangle with some smaller rectangles cut out of it then this can very easily be made in DesignModeler or SpaceClaim, when you do not need any file transfer tasks outside of Ansys.

Hi, I just redid the geometry in Design Modeler as you suggested & it fixed my issues. Thank you for your input, it is much appreciated!
