Hello ,

I managed to mesh my cylinder-like geometry with blockMesh and snappyHexMesh (please see the picture attached, (0,0,0) is the center of the inlet). Since the geometry is axisymmetric regarding the x-axis, I want to perform a 2D-axisymmetric simulation. To do this I want to create a wedge out of my 3D-geometry with a angle of 4°.

I want to use extrudeMesh and for the extrudeModel I am using sector. I tried a lot of different combinations of the following settings in the extrudeMeshDict:

sourcePatches ?
exposedPatchName ?

sectorCoeffs
{
axis Pt ?
axis ?
angle 4
}

but I can't manage to get the desired wedge-geometry. I looked a lot of this online and would appreciate it if someone knows what to put in the extrudeMeshDict.

Thank you very much in advance!

Konrad

Hi,

I am having the same problem, did you or anyone else can provide an explanation what

sectorCoeffs
{
axisPt (0 0 0);
axis (0 0 -1);
angle 3; // For nLayers=1 assume symmetry so angle/2 on each side
}

are ?

Thank you

Update: Found this

If anyone else is interested making a 2D wedge mesh from 3D wedge domain.....

axisPt : this is an any point on your symmetry axis

axis : is the direction of the symmetry axis, if your geometry is symmetrical around z-axis and in z+ direction, it should be (0 0 -1). If you get errors for negative cell volume try change the +/-.

angle : the angle you apply get divided to two by the coordinate plane. Make
your sourcePatch is on the x-y coordinate plane to get the mesh error
free.
