Hello to all,

I would like to mesh a cone with hexahedral mesh. The idea is to have a unstructured mesh on the top and bottom and "prism" (hexahedral) throughout the height.

I am able to generate what I want in 2D mesh (script attached), but when I go to 3D it will generate tetras instead of hexas. I do know know how to solve this, and would appreciate some help.

Is it possible to extrude a mesh with an angle?

Kind Regards

Not sure.

Does classy_blocks help here https://github.com/damogranlabs/classy_blocks

Classy_blocks supports truncated cone (frustrum) as building block https://github.com/damogranlabs/clas...ape/frustum.py

Hello Mr. Dlahaye,

Thank you for the alternative. But I would really like it to be made inside gmsh environment. This part will connect to another geometry (which I have already drawn inside gmsh). I have drawn the truncated cone with a structured mesh, but would also like to have it with an unstructured one.

However, if I let it generate tetras the mesh metrics will not be good. And I would like to create "prisms", i.e generate non-structured mesh for a circle and extrude it at an angle/ or generate the two circles, connect them and ask to generate the mesh (as in the attached script). I get the 2D outline but cannot get the 3D mesh as I want it.

I am insufficiently versatile in gmsh to be able to help you. Sorry.
