Hi,
I'm trying to import a mesh from Gambit with 2 seperate internal 2D walls into OpenFoam. As I understand from the different threads in this forum, the easy way to do this is to import the .msh file in Fluent and immediatly thereafter save it as a .cas file. In that way 2 the grid information for 2 shadow walls are included. Afterwards I try to use the fluent3dMeshToFoam utility to make the final conversion to OpenFoam polymesh. Unfortunatly I get a number of errors "... : Do not understand characters: ...". I have tried to remove different sections in the .cas file and some errors went away. The last error that got me stuck was that "... Do not understand characters: ( ...". I have made a delimiter check that didn't showed any delimiter mismatch. Any ideas?? Regards Jens |

I have attached a simple example Fluent .cas file which doesn't convert proberly in fluent3DMeshToFoam.
The geometry is a box with 2 seperate internal walls inside. Thank you in advance! Jens |

I have resolved the matter. I don't have to go through fluent. I just export the mesh from gambit as a fluent 5/6 mesh file. Afterwards I use fluent3DMeshToFoam on that file and it works fine. All internal walls are present with their individual names. Face count has been doubled on each wall when compared to gambit, due to fluent3DMeshToFoam creates shadow faces.
