I hope all are well. I'm posting for direction on extracting the distance of higher field value over time. More below, any guidance would be appreciated.

I have an orifice entering a large domain. I would like to determine the distance of higher velocities in the domain over time. Visually I do this in paraview and mark the tip of the jet, but I would like to automate. I would also want to extend this to other quantities such as passive scalar values and particle tracking.

Any suggestions?

I do much in Python and am looking at the following below, is there is a better approach or utility?

Read field values, remove near zero values (zero plus some tolerance), find max distance (X1) of cell locations left.

Thanks!
