Solving two fluids

Dear OF community,
I will soon start a project on OpenFOAM for my company. What they want me to model is a kind of dam fill with water and passing through a small channel ( I know it's not clear) and they want to put oil on top of this water to see if this oil pushes the water through this small channel. My questions are : - Does any one of you has any idea if there's a similar tutorial on the OpenFOAM folder or anywhere else ? - How much do you think these kind of models take time (roughly speaking) ? Hi Mehdi,
I think you can use the interFoam solver. interFoam is a solver for 2 incompressible, isothermal immiscible fluids using a VOF (volume of fluid) phase-fraction based interface capturing approach. it's not an intricate project and depend on your parameters that would be changed, it take time. |

hi again,
the below link contains a comprehensive tutorial file of using interFoam in openFoam which is prepared by Mr. Hemida of Chalmer's Uni. I think it has what you need for your project. about damBreak case, if you look at transportPeroperies file you see it uses two fluids which the secondary phase will be patched to geometry using setFieldsDict. read the below tutorial, it has very tips you need: http://www.tfd.chalmers.se/~hani/kur...Hemida_VOF.pdf |
