So I am doing a mach tube problem and I have to have pressure, Temperature, and Velocity all initialized non-uniformly so that there are two initial quantities for those properties before and the after the shock in the middle of the tube. However the rhoCentralFoam solver quits out at an execution time of about 1~2 seconds doing maybe 20 timesteps in total.

The odd thing is too is that rhoCentralFoam solves the solution completely when U is uniform which I figured out through testing.

Has anyone run into this before or know what's up?

I am using a vanLeer discretization scheme (vanLeerV for Velocity) with a CTL number of 0.1, time step of 0.000001 and a max time of 0.002 if that helps!

Hello Cody,

what error does OF give you? A floating point exception? In which equation solver did it appear?

What are your boundary conditions especially at the inlet? I also had some problems and now avoid them by switching from a supersonic to a transsonic or sometimes even incompressible inlet boundary condition. It is unphysical and not a solution in the long run, but for my cases I obtain reasonable results.

I guess you probably already looked at the setup on this homepage:
