Hello,

I have a Kubuntu 18.10 linux operating system and I had build the openFoam v1812 downloaded from the openfoam.com couple of months back.

Recently, I was trying some tutorials and while trying to perform a surfaceFeatureExtract command in the terminal, I get the output as

Code:
Command 'surfaceFeatureExtract' not found, but can be installed with:

sudo apt install openfoam
This happens even though I had enabled the openFoam environment. While pressing the tab button in the terminal after typing surfa , I get only surfaceAdd and surfactantFoam as options available.

Is there any way so as to resolve this issue ? If some insights can be shed on why such a peculiar behavior occurs it can be of help too.

I use OpenFoam v1812 on a Windows 10 PC and the function "surfaceFeatureExtract" appears to work fine. Obviously, I got the error message that the file surfaceFeatureExtractDict wasn't found.

I assume, your bug is not in the OpenFoam version, but in your installation.

Thank you Ingo Reiss for the reply.

I can therefore be sure that the problem lies with my installation. Should I compile and build again ? It will be certainly helpful if any other workarounds are possible.

I have attached the log file of the foamInstallationTest utility with this message for further scrutiny.

It happened to be an issue with the compilation of OpenFoam. I recompiled OpenFoam and the issue got resolved.

Thanks
