Hello Foamers,
I am new to OpenFOAM and working on my first case outside of the tutorials. Like many beginners I am simulation a NACA 0012. I have a fairly good quality mesh and residual convergence all though there is an oscillatory nature to residuals after about 1000 iterations (see images). My case is setup very similarly to the 2D airfoil tutorial however I am using a true 3D domain of 50x10x1 [m] and applying boundary type “wall” to the top bottom and sides to emulate a very long and narrow wind tunnel test section. My results are showing some very strange pressure “banding” over the surface of the airfoil which can also be seen in a slice of the domain normal to the span of the airfoil (see images). I’m asking for some help to find out what I am doing wrong. I have attached a link to the case files (0, constant, system) as well as some images (residual plot, mesh check screen grab, and pressure renderings of the airfoil surface and span-wise normal view). I have omitted the mesh to save space. Thank you in advance for any help. -Sam Link to case files: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4spvhdgzwe..._Case.zip?dl=0 |
