Good day,

I have a reacting gas mixture and rhoReactingFoam is serving me well in this regard. However, consider the case of a reaction between two gas species to form a product in its solid state. It can be represented by X(gas) + Y(gas) -> Z(solid). I would like to avoid the Lagrangian approach, as I have a different method to account for the particle phase. The particle phase is non-inertial and follows the velocity field of the gas mixture. The trouble I have is that the Thermophysical setup for a reacting mixture only allows a single model that is applied to all species. If I could, I would like to take species Z(solid) and fix its density, instead of having it solved with the ideal gas equation of state like the rest of the species. Let's say Z(solid) makes up 20% of the mass flow, using the equation of state to calculate its density will lead to an incorrect volume flow rate and subsequent velocity field for the mixture.

Is anyone aware of an existing approach in openFOAM to model this phenomenon?

The approach I was looking for turns out to be the multiphase approach, and I am busy modifying one of the existing solvers for my problem.
