Hello, I created a 2D geometry through blender, but when I import it as a stl file, the file cannot be printed because it is not 3D. Is there a way to throw a 2D sketch to openfoam? I don't want to make it 3D because then the flow area is changed and my geometry is a putnam nozzle. For example, I found an excel file on the internet on how to adapt the 2d airfoil to the blockmesh, but my geometry is a nozzle. I would be very grateful if you could give me an idea on how to do it. Thanks.

OpenFoam has no concept on 2D simulations (as points in the mesh always have an x, y and z coordinate).
Extrusion from 2D to 3D in such a way that the flow is unchanged is thus required. The are at least two possibilities: 1/ ask the mesher to mesh with one (single) cell in the extrusion direction. I imagine (though I never used) snappyHexMesh to be able to do so. See also https://snappyhexmesh-gui.readthedoc...appy_gui.html# 2/ generate a 2D mesh and extrude by hand using the OpenFoam extrudeMesh utility https://www.openfoam.com/documentati...trudeMesh.html |
