Using the same simulation settings for new geometry

Hi,

I am relatively new to Star CCM+ and am working through the tutorials. I was just wondering if there is a way to set up a model using imported CAD model A (from SolidWorks) and running it. Then later on update the CAD model to CAD model B keeping all the setting is Star CCM you have already used? Or do you have to start from scratch with CAD model B and apply all the settings anew.

I hope that makes sense. Any advice would be appreciated.

This can be done by importing Geometry B, assigning it to Region B, meshing Region B - and after that <right-click on Region A> - "Replace mesh": thus physics and boundary conditions will be kept (solution will be interpolated).
But - this will only work if Region B has same list of boundaries with same names and types.

Parts-based meshing gives you more flexibility and after volume meshing you can split existing surfaces into new ones at region level if needed. That is if you do not want to assign parts to regions again.
