Hi All

I am trying my luck in Star CCM+. So its really a basic doubt,

I want to import my CAD geometry (3D, .stp format) into StarCCM+ and then do the meshing nd so on.. But I can only see import option for surface mesh and volume mesh, which apparently has some issues when I import my geometry with the option import as surface mesh.Kindly give me your valuable suggestions to solve this issue. How can I import my geometry ?

Thanks in advance.

The "import surface mesh" button is the correct place. It's not named very intuitively, but this is the correct button for importing surface meshes and CAD.

There is an alternative method for importing only CAD into 3D-CAD, but parts that are imported via the import surface mesh button that are CAD can also be easily right-clicked and moved to 3D-CAD.

What issues are you seeing?

The Problem what am facing with importing surface mesh is that my inlet face is shared with other surfaces, and hence when I wanted to select just one face as my inlet, its not possible.
Second problem is the geometry surface smoothness, as in the ANSYS Spaceclaim my geometry which is like a pipe is smooth but when I import it to StarCCM+ the surface is not that smooth (I can see from edges or there entire pipe surface looks like different pieces.

You can Change the teselation-density, when you Import the geometry. To seperate the faces, you can create Feature-lines in Surface repair.
